What type of exercise is best for the elderly?

Really, any exercise is good exercise. However, the best exercises are those that increase breathing or heart rate, such as endurance or aerobic - for example, walking or swimming.

Why do seniors need to exercise?

Exercise is good to maintain mobility and strength in the muscles by keeping the core active. This can also have other benefits such as lowering blood pressure, enhancing flexibility and even enhancing balance.
